The On The Wire Radio Show Archive blog gathers together as many editions of Steve Barker's On The Wire radio show for BBC Radio Lancashire as we have been able to obtain so far, with accompanying information such as playlists.
This project was conceived and began preparation in late 2017. Publication began in 2018, and is ongoing.
There will be some duplication of content with the main On The Wire blog and mixcloud sites, and in some cases we may even just point into content at those sites. Part of the project is intended to make available better quality audio sources, where they are known to exist, so content may be replaced or updated with "remastered" versions.
For now, this archive stops when we reach what we define as
the modern era of On The Wire.
A note on dates
At various points in its life, On The Wire has been broadcast at midnight between Saturday night and Sunday morning. While it is natural to refer to the date of this show as being that of the Saturday, technically the date of Sunday is correct, and that is the convention that this archive follows; however note that the official On The Wire blog and mixcloud site generally use the Saturday date! This may cause some off-by-one discrepancies when comparing data on this archive with other sources.
